Why Would I Want To Learn Japanese Anyway?

Often shortly after or even years after finishing school people feel the need to learn something new, and broaden their horizons. Some people learn to cook others draw and some even take up a new sport, however here I would like to discuss the advantages of learning Japanese.

Now I don’t know that many people that wake up and decide that learning Japanese is what they will do today, so let me give you some good reasons to consider this…

One wonderful thing about learning a new language is that you open up the door of your life to new friends and even potential colleagues that you could never have done without knowing Japanese. Life is all about people and interactions and your relationships. This is what brings meaning to your life, joy and richness, not more stuff or going on more holidays, it’s people!

Did you know that over 130,000,000 people speak Japanese in the world? That’s a decent amount of people that you can potentially meet and make friends with if you can speak Japanese.

Another reason is that you potentially put yourself in a position for more jobs and/or business opportunities. The Japanese economy is the 3rd largest in the world, and therefore a huge amount of business is discussed in Japanese.

Companies are always looking for people that can communicate in Japanese to be there point of contact with Japanese companies in business. You can also land a position as a translator or perhaps a tour guide quite easily when you are confident in Japanese. Essentially my point is that the more skills you have the more opportunities you get in life and knowing how to speak a foreign language, especially Japanese is very valuable.

A third reason to learn Japanese is that it has never been easier than before. The reason for this is that thanks to advancements in technology there are now extremely effective learning Japanese software courses that you can do for the comfort of home. A good learn Japanese program will have quality audios files, images, games, grammar and vocabulary lessons that almost re-create the classroom setting. I use a learn Japanese suite and is very effective and has taught me to learn basic conversational Japanese effectively.

It’s never to late to learn Japanese so why not start today!
