Jamaica’s restored glory
Today’s subject of discussion is marketing- just plain and simple Marketing. I just did see a few people smirking when I touched the word marketing. I’m certain these folks are from the very same line. As they say, Business just doesn’t come with efficiency and talent, you got to be a people’s person really to pull the right dose of business. And that takes place only when you come into the world of marketing. So coming to the point, today’s discussion features on how and if marketing is doing a world of good to Jamaican business units and companies. Last season, when I had a team of tourists traveling to this wonderful land of Jamaica, I came across a polished business Honcho who wanted to take over the whole unit of Jamaica Plumbers. Amazed at how a person would justify taking up a virtually sick unit for a few million dollars. On my quizzing him on that, he just started glowing and stressed on these words- “Magic of marketing will not prove me wrong. Simply wait and watch.” His few words still ring in my head as the plumbing company is now singing a new song altogether and simply rolling in money. Now I shall talk of yet another example, that of the Jamaica Roofers. A unit that now prides itself for having roofed almost a trillion houses in the whole of this beautiful city, a little quantum of a printed marketing strategy motivated a few people to try out its offerings and rest as they would say, is history. In addition to this, it has also been noted that telecom service enterprises picked up some astounding business just as they ran a brief marketing trivia round on Hollywood movies on the Jamaican radio each morning and evening. Isn’t that a refreshing way to re-established business? Feeling encouraged by this, even Jamaica Electricians. went by a similar route and got back a big section of their lost business.
