The start of my career in SEO
When i entered the world of SEO i was told this was to be a ’steep learning curve’, and at times it has been, but other times its general common sense dictating what to do.
To save myself from working in retail all my life i went back to college and studied Internet marketing, and found a job mid february as a junior seo. ‘College prepares you for nothing’ is the term that certainly springs to mind, as SEO isnt as easy as college made out, but it certainly isnt much. First thing i got put to work on was AMA articles, which once you find the right angle for a certain subject it can become interesting, even for subjects i find dull. Im now turning out AMA’s at a fairly good pace, and there not too shabby if i do say so myself. Ama takes alittle while to see some results, but they do come through and deliver the results.
But AMA is but one piece of the puzzle- one weapon in the armory. There is also blogg commenting -or ‘do follow’ linking. Having something decent to say on the subject is key on this for me -no point in just posting for the sake of it.
Linkbait is also a solid method- but what qualifies as good linkbait? For your linkbait to turn ‘viral’ will call for something special -conventional methods arent going to work. Music, jokes, games or something random thats sure to get people’s attention will work here.
What has been the part of the job i have had trouble getting to grips with so far? Getting past the jargon mostly -aload of technical terms that are being thrown out there, and constantly re-fining the keywords can be slightly tedious -but necessary. I realise i havent given a full SEO review here and have just briefly touched on it -but then im on a path where im still learning ‘the trade’. After six weeks im not going to be brilliant at my job, no-one will be, but i can see my knowledge growing and what im applying starting to work out.
